Drama in Kupiškis as top two are disqualified

John Moore on 17th August 2020

Laura Lakovica-Lakovica and Andrè Faye Solvang were dramatically disqualified after technical scruitineering late last night.

The Latvian and Norwegian who had taken gold and silver medals in the 2020 UIM GT30 European championship in Kupiškis, Lithuania yesterday afternoon, went home empty handed.

After a lengthy technical inspection on their Tohatsu engines, the UIM officials deemed that they didn’t conform to the rules.

For his part, Solvang didn’t agree with the decision but didn’t have 2000 euros to put down and appeal the judgement.

He said after:

Of course, we are very disappointed but we have to put this down to experience.

The winners, Kärol Soodla, Sami Reinikainen and Saari Arttu received their trophies in a special late night prize giving, which considering the time, was very well attended.
