John Moore on 31st October 2018

Darren Nicholson and Peter McGrath have steered their MPYD Boat Design hull, ‘222 Offshore’ to success in the Australian Offshore Superboat Championship this season with winning the Supercat Extreme (Class 1) Championship.

Next year they plan to race in the American Super Boat International series.

The Australian team will compete in the Superboat Unlimited class racing against the Dubai based Victory team and Steve Curtis’ Miss Geico.

For 2019, the class will have new rules with engines based on the QVC4 motor.

Nicholson commented:

We love racing in Australia and we receive so much support from around the country and especially in the host towns where we race.
The team are very excited to head to the US, especially as Australian Champions, to race the best in the world and we’re certainly looking forward to some great competitive racing.

Nicholson will also continue to compete in the UIM XCAT World Championship, he is currently 5th in the 2018 series and has a mathematical chance of winning overall in the UAE in early December.
